Such activities are considered dangerous and life-threatening by the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF). Therefore, you will need to apply and obtain approval for these activities, to ensure a safe workplace for your employees.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What Are Petroleum &amp; Fire Materials?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When it comes to the storage of P&amp;FM, you should be aware of the materials that fall under each category:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Petroleum<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>This refers to any form of hydrocarbon materials that have a flash point of below 93\u00b0 C. This includes liquified petroleum gas, crude petroleum, and other naturally formed hydrocarbons.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-style-default\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/bluetecmne.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/image2-2-1193x800.jpg\" alt=\"Storage for flammable substance obtained through a P&amp;FM licence\" class=\"wp-image-2239\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Flammable Materials<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>The list of flammable materials is set in the Fire Fourth Schedule of the Fire Safety Regulations. For the full list of materials, browse this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scdf.gov.sg\/docs\/default-source\/scdf-library\/p-fm\/complete_list_of_licensable_chemicals-14092020.xlsx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">link<\/a> to find out more.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Application Procedure<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/bluetecmne.com\/blog\/\">As stated in our previous blog entries<\/a>, you will need to hire a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scdf.gov.sg\/home\/fire-safety\/plans-and-consultations\/plan-approval\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.scdf.gov.sg\/home\/fire-safety\/plans-and-consultations\/plan-approval\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Qualified Person (QP<\/a>) who will assist you with the application process. First, the applicant and QP must obtain <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scdf.gov.sg\/home\/fire-safety\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.scdf.gov.sg\/home\/fire-safety\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">fire safety approval from the SCD<\/a>F to store petroleum and fire materials within their premises.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After receiving approval, the applicant must then seek a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scdf.gov.sg\/home\/fire-safety\/permits-and-certifications\/registered-inspector\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.scdf.gov.sg\/home\/fire-safety\/permits-and-certifications\/registered-inspector\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Registered Inspector (RI)<\/a>. An RI is a QP who is registered with the SCDF to conduct inspections on completed fire safety works.
